Well today was our last day here at Baldface Lodge in Nelson BC, and we sure are sad to leave. As today was the best day by far, due to the fresh snow that had fallen overnight, the sounds of avalanches in the near distance, and the chance for us to use our beacons due to a skier in our group that had decided to ski through an area that we were going to shoot but then took a far left which left him nowhere to be seen. Thus leaving us to do a search for him where I had heard his voice off in the distance. So then Cassandra, Julian and I had showed our guide the whereabouts of the lostskier. So after all that was dealt with we had ventured off into zones that were described as scetchy by our guides Cheryl and Buff , which are avalanche prone, but previous avalanches made these areas into some amazing steep wide open high speed runs. Today we had also got lots of killer shots, one of which I had to get my ass up early to hit a gap jump from the upper level lodges down to the roof of a lower level lodge, then the day on the mountain started off with Cassandra getting some sick pow slashes in for the camera. Now after these past three absolutely amazing days of riding we sure dont want to go back to the spring riding conditions on the east coast. Not to mention that everything about Baldface Lodge is just incredible. The riding is just off the hook with the best terrain you would find on the west coast, quoted by our photographer Julian Sallenave. The staff is super courteous and always willing to make your stay the best it can be. The food is just incredible, with a full breakfast that has all the goodies from pastries to fruits, a make your own lunch station with fresh sandwiches and snacks, and a very tasteful and classy dinner that will fill your hungry tummy after a hard day of riding on the mountain. Also once you are done riding you can hang out in the very cozy main lodge with lots of comfortable seating, fireplace, dartboard and a great pool table which we made lots of use of. Or you can head downstairs to play some ping pong, x-box 360, ps2 or watch snowboard videos on the big screen in the games room. Now that we have taken our helicopter ride back down the mountain’s into Nelson, where we have now checked into the Hume Hotel here. Now this hotel that Cassandra and I are staying at is Haunted, not to mention we are staying in the haunted room of the hotel, which is room 335 of the Hume Hotel……google it and see for yourself. After having a staff member here asking if we were staying in the haunted room, we asked what room is it? Then he replied with 335. So I had to google it and see for myself, and we believe that we may see some paranormal activity tonight. Damn this trip is great, and full of memories. Both Cassandra and myself are super stoked that we got to have the experience of riding at Baldface Lodge, thanks to Eventsing Promotions.

Our Last words are:

Kevin: Baldface Lodge is a must go to destination for the rider who loves powder, and just straight up loves to shred! It just blew my mind away with all the amazing terrain there is here to ride, and the variety of it that you can ride in a day. They have everything here to offer, and the snow is just incredible. Baldface Lodge is a destination that I will have to return too, the place is just breathtaking, epic and very memorable. Thanks to all the great staff and the amazing riding, I will never forget this trip.

Cassandra: The passion one feels for snowboarding is a genuine happiness, I found this at Baldface Lodge over the past couple days. This is a must go to destination for any level of rider, you cannot ask for better terrain, accommodation, staff and an overall experience. As a park rider, I was not well aware of the different branches of riding, I was introduced to a style of snowboarding which I hope every rider gets to experience at least once in their lifetime. You cannot put a price on a trip like this, cause the memories and experience are worth much more.

Thanks for reading,

Kevin Konings and Cassandra Ironside

So Yesterday was our first day in the backcountry, and all we can say is it was Surreal. The both of us had experienced the most amazing powder and steeps we had ever ridden. And for Cassandra, a girl who has never ridden terrain like this, showed she had no problem keeping up with the boys. We had rode some amazing open bowls, steep chutes and some super fast tree runs where you got going so fast it felt effortless just floating above the pow. So today we are going to the North part of the mountain which apparently nobody has gone to for quite some time…..so it is going to be FRESH! We will let all of you know how it was when we get back later.

PEACE OUT FROM KEVIN AND CASSANDRA From the land of amazing.

The day started off with myself (Kevin) sleeping in and throwing us off scheduale by 15 minuites. Then Cassandra and I had made it to the airport and were 4 minuites late from checking into our flight, thus forcing us to catch the next flight. With that said, we are now worried that we are not going to get to Nelson BC ontime and that we are going to miss our Helicopter ride to Baldface lodge. But once we made it to Castlegar we were notified that we did not have to be there until 3 o’clock….so stoked! Then we get to the airport in Nelson BC, and were told that we cannot bring boardbags on the Helicopter, so we had to take our boards out and fold the bags in half so that they would fit….it worked :). So Cassandra and I then get to take a super scenic Heli ride up to Baldface Lodge where we arrive at one of the most amazing destinations we had ever been to. After being here for a short period of time, we geared up to start shooting photo’s with our photographer Julien Sallenave from SBC. And it wasnt hard at all to find something to shoot, cause this place has endless potential. After that it was time to go sit down for dinner, which was incredibly tasteful and followed with an amazing desert. We then waxed our boards, watched videos and played ping pong. Now its time to get some rest for a sunny day on the mountain tomorrow. Check back for more updates of our super sick trip.

Peace out from Kevin and Cassandra
